One of the most powerful things you can do on your journey of unlearning, becoming, and transformation is to intentionally place yourself in an environment that calls your potential forward. Too often, we focus only on mindset, forgetting that environment plays an equally critical role.
Research by psychologist Ellen Langer showed that when individuals were placed in an environment that mirrored a younger version of their lives, their physical, cognitive, and emotional states improved. They quite literally began to show up differently because their environment stimulated a different version of themselves.
This reminds us that growth is not just internal. It is deeply influenced by what surrounds us.
It also challenges the belief that change must be difficult. Sometimes, what feels like a lack of motivation or discipline is actually a mismatch between you and your environment.
When your environment supports you, you don’t have to force growth. It becomes easier to think differently, act differently, and ultimately become different.
